Free discovery lets an agent inspect available capabilities before deciding whether a paid resource is useful. Paid resources use the current x402 contract: HTTP 402 with PAYMENT-REQUIRED, followed only after caller approval by a challenge-specific PAYMENT-SIGNATURE. Canonical SML settlement is Base mainnet eip155:8453 with USDC.
